An Oconee man instrumental in organizing the county’s first scenic highway committee will serve in a similar capacity at a statewide level. James Barker, Clemson president, has accepted an invitation to be part of a panel discussion Monday in Washington, D.C. During a Department of Commerce event, Barker is to show how education and research initiatives at I-CAR, the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research, and the Clemson Restoration Institute in N. Charleston have helped drive economic development across the state.
