Carroll captures Oktobferfest queen

A senior at Walhalla High is Miss Oktoberfest 2012. Ashley Carroll won every category in Saturday night’s pageant, produced and directed by G-C Pageants. Winning class attendant titles were freshman Bonnie-Ann Duke of West-Oak; sophomore Rebecca Kennedy of Tamassee-Salem; junior Molly Saxon of Walhalla; and senior Ashley Strickland of West-Oak. Walhalla’s Mackenzie Long was crowed Miss Photogenic.

An Oconee man instrumental in organizing the county’s first scenic highway committee will serve in a similar capacity at a statewide level.
