A report on this year’s Christmas Parade is an agenda item for tonight’s 6 o’clock meeting of the West Union Town Council. Other items of  business include an update on plans for a farmers market, as well as discussions and votes on nuisance properties and how much hospitality tax to spend on next year’s Fun in the Sun event.

The Oconee superintendent of education has been blogging about it, and last night there was a full discussion by the board of trustees about the fairness of an end-of-course test that weighs on whether a student will graduate. Dr. Michael Lucas, county superintendent, has asked the question, “Could you pass the end-of-course exam in U-S history?

City of Seneca invites everyone to the re-scheduled groundbreaking ceremony of the new Hampton Inn and Suites. It’ll take place at the E. N. 1st Street site, starting at 5 this afternoon. Immediately afterward, city council will move to City Hall for its 6 o’clock regular October meeting.

Before the Oconee School District makes any change to its policy of no prayer at the start of board meetings, school leaders are going to discuss the matter with their ecumenical council.
