Seneca’s Northside Elementary School won the 4th Annual Battle of the Books held last weekend at Walhalla’s James Brown Elementary. Ten county schools advanced to the competition from school-level contests. Contestants answered questions on the books they had read in their school media centers.

Oconee County deputies, along with officers from the county’s municipal police departments, are enrolled this week in special training. Conducted by South Carolina assistant attorney’s general Meghan Gresham, the training focuses on criminal domestic violence—from the laws, to restraining orders, to orders of protection and the like.
