Today’s Streetscape work

The contractor will continue electrical conduit work today on the north side of Walhalla’s Main Street.  Hutch ‘N Son expects to move to the block today from College to Tugaloo streets.  Crews also plan tip island sidewalk work on the south side of Main Street. Electrical work will require the closing of College Street on the north side, probably tomorrow.

First day candidates

Two Oconee County municipalities picked up first day candidates for their 2015 municipal elections.  Walhalla resident Dennis Owens qualified to run for mayor, which apparently will set up a battle with Danny Edwards who has said he will seek a second term.  Westminster resident Susan Ramey qualified as a candidate for her city council.  The elections take place in November.
