Homicide suspect arrested in North Carolina

The U-S Marshals Service arrested an Oconee County homicide suspect today in Charlotte, North Carolina.  According to an announcement by the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, Dw’Ntraquis Campbell of Greenwood was arrested by the Operation Intercept Fugitive Task Force of the Marshals Service.  The 31-year old Campbell is charged with murder in the shooting death of Anthony Leon Holden of Seneca—along with […]

A new boss at Schneider Electric

101./7/WGOG NEWS has learned of an announcement yesterday at the Schneider Electric plant on the Sandifer Boulevard near Seneca.  Walhalla resident Garvin Barker will succeed Larry Smith as plant manager.  Smith, the long-time plant manager, is retiring.  Barker has worked several years in the capacity of Improvement Director, a job that required him to travel to Schneider’s plants.

Seneca trombonist earns All-Band honor

An 8th grader at Seneca Middle School, Ellie Cannon, earned first chair trombone for the state and became the only Oconee School District student to make South Carolina All-State Band.  An honors student, Ellie practices each week for hours and will participate in the All-State Clinic and Concert March 11-13 at Furman University.
