  All branches of the Oconee Public Library will be closed Wednesday, October 5 for a staff training day.  A guest speaker that day will talk to the library workers about child safety and the dangers of social media.  He’s Joe Ryan, education coordinator for the South Carolina Attorney’s General Crimes Against Children Task Force.

What’s reported as the shooting of a student inside Townville Elementary School has sent a host of law enforcement officers to the small school in Anderson County, near the Oconee line.  Among the officers dispatched were officers from the Oconee Sheriff’s Office.  We are told helicopters have been scene in the sky above the area.
