At the Oconee Animal Shelter, the dog kennels are full beyond capacity and the Humane Society has waived adoption fees. All available pets are spay/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.

Read moreThe state patrol reports the death of Katrina Whitfield, a car driver in a Saturday afternoon accident in Oconee County. Coroner Karl Addis says Whitfield is a 54-year old Westminster resident. The accident, at 3:15 pm, involved a Chevy automobile and a pickup truck at the T-intersection of Stribling and Richland roads.
