Oconee School District continues to monitor Hurricane Irma and communicate with county emergency Preparedness to plan appropriate measures.  If it becomes necessary to delay or cancel school or adjust the bus routes, the district will communicate with families by phone, email, text message, websites, local Facebook and Twitter.

Walhalla and Westminster are asking their sanitation customers to secure their rolling trash can carts to prevent the high winds from blowing them away until the storm passes on Tuesday.  The public works departments of the two municipalities also request that customers to not place brush and other debris by the sides of the roads.

The Pioneer water plant trial ended a week ago, and tomorrow the water district board will receive a report from its attorneys.  Terry Pruitt, Pioneer general manager, says that report will be part of legal matters to be handled by the board during the executive session part of tomorrow afternoon’s meeting.  A ruling in the case by the Judge McIntosh is […]

A South Carolina couple are part of a class action lawsuit, alleging eye damage from using faulty eclipse glasses.  Thomas Corey Payne and fiancée Kayla Harris claim using fake eclipse glasses on August 21 left them with headaches and temporary vision loss and impairment.  They are blaming the retailer Amazon, from whom Payne says he brought a three-pack of eyeglasses […]
