Westminster Elementary School drew the approval Friday of Ellen Weaver, the state superintendent of education.  Weaver paid a visit to the school, before her featured talk at the Apple Festival luncheon.  And she complimented the school and its faculty for its attention to early literacy education.

A two-car accident in Pendleton late yesterday afternoon took the life of a 60-year-old Townville woman.  Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said Jeanna Kay Satterfield died of traumatic injuries secondary to blunt force trauma in the accident around 5:30 pm on S. An apparent warning on a social platform about a possible shooting in Franklin County, Georgia schools led today to the closing of schools today in the northeast Georgia county.  The county sheriff believes the threat traced to Snapchat could be a prank, but the threat is taken seriously — until proved otherwise.
