Public safety responders had their hands full on Friday afternoon on U-S 123, the Seneca-Clemson Boulevard.  An accident at Jacobs Road, followed by a rear-end collision at the Food Lion traffic lights clogged traffic in rain on a Friday afternoon, one of the busiest traffic volume periods for that section of the highway.

City of Seneca announces that Santa Claus’s planned visit tonight to Norton Thompson Park has been called off–because of the rainy weather.  It means also that no hot chocolate will be served.  Because the forecasts for tomorrow and Sunday nights appear to be clear, Santa’s visit and the hot chocolate are to take place then.

This rainy Friday is not the best day for the outdoor tree lighting ceremony for Fair Play.  Instead the tree lighting has been moved inside the Beaverdam Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and will start at 7 o’clock tonight.  The public is invited.

Jimmy Watt is leaving his news and sports announcing positions at the Lake WSNW radio and returning to the Oconee Sheriff’s Office as the public information officer.  Sheriff Crenshaw this morning confirmed that Watt will resume PIO duties effective Monday, December 23.

The Shop with a Warrior event Monday benefitted the four elementary schools that are feeder schools to the West-Oak High School.  With the help of faculty and community, the high school student council treated 57 elementary students to a day of shopping and fun.
