The rains of last month have taken a toll on the roof of the Oconee Law Enforcement Center in Walhalla.  Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says the leaks are on the second floor of the building housing the administrative offices of the Sheriff’s Office.  The roof shingles are 16 to 17 years old.

The numbers recorded in the year-long weather report kept by Walhalla’s Official Weather Observer reflect a mild year, with a high of 97 degrees in September and a low of 18 in late January. Rainfall at the Hickory Hollow Farm amounted to 65.22″ and no snow measured.  The weather statistics are provided to 101.7/WGOG by Barbara Wilson.

The New Year will be just a few days old before officials conduct a routine test of the outdoor warning sirens within a 10-mile radius of the Oconee Nuclear plant.  The test is scheduled for 11:50 Wednesday morning, January 8 and last three minutes.  The tests are conducted by emergency officials in Oconee and Pickens counties.  This announcement from Duke […]

Fire last night consumed a former cotton mill warehouse in Seneca, in the vicinity of E. Main Street and the Lindsay Road.
