Arrest made in theft of $69 thousand truck

A West Columbia man is accused of stealing a new vehicle from an Oconee County car dealership, and the Sheriff’s Office today continues to investigate the case. The Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest yesterday of Dwayne Eigner on the charge of grand larceny of a vehicle worth $69 thousand December 2 at Scenic Chevrolet. A warrant signed by investigator David McMahan accuses 44-year old Eigner of the following “combined, confederated and acted with common design with two individuals to commit the crime of grand larceny in that he did aid, abet, and assist in the taking and carrying away of a 2018 Chevrolet Crew Cab 2500 truck….” According to the Sheriff’s Office, an investigation determined Eigner had checked out and taken the key to the Chevrolet pickup and then left with the key, getting into his personal vehicle and driving away from the dealership. Investigators say they believe Eigner then gave the key to another person, who is seen on December 2 getting out of a separate vehicle and pulling into the Scenic parking lot and then driving away in the Chevy pickup.
