A strike against meth trafficking

“Operation Avalanche” is underway in Oconee County, an attempt by the Sheriff’s Office to stem the tide against methamphetamine being brought into the county. By Friday, four search warrants were executed in the Seneca area, at Carradine Road, O’Henry Lane, Argo Road, and Louie Lane. By the midnight hour, eight arrests had been made. Sheriff Crenshaw said, “Over the past several months, agents from the Narcotics Unit of the Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into the distribution and trafficking of methamphetamine from the state of Georgia into South Carolina. As a result of the investigation, agents determined that over the same period, more than 2,000 pounds of 1 ton of methamphetamine made its way into Oconee County with destinations reaching other parts of the Upstate and the southeast.” Further information is to be announced Monday.
