A District One deadline arrives at noon

Oconeeans who live in the rural county District One have until noon today to officially make known that they’d like to be considered for the open seat on the board of school trustees.  The office of the district superintendent will cut off the application period at noon today and submit the applications received to be considered during tonight’s board meeting.  Until his death late last month, Jerry Lee represented a district that tracked south of the North Carolina line, thru Salem and Tamassee, thru a number of Lake Keowee voting precincts, all the way to the end of the lake at Seneca.  101.7/WGOG NEWS has learned of the interest of one Port Santorini resident in bidding for the appointment.
