Robert “Bobby” Harris

Robert “Bobby” Harris was the first of four children born to Thomas Harris and Vivian Pankey on October 2, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY. Bobby was a CDL tractor-trailer driver, who drove for the Daily News, ShopRite, Baldwin Transportation, and was a member of the Teamsters Local #805.

Bobby met his love, Cynthia Lajoyce Davis, in 1973. They married on January 31, 1975, in Brooklyn, NY. In this union, together they raised seven children in Long Island, NY. He retired in 1993. In June 2006, he and Cynthia relocated to Seneca, SC at the invitation of special friends Haywood and Ada Dunston of Seneca.

Bobby, 74, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Cynthia Harris, children Shawn Davis, Lana Byrum (Eric), Kelli Harris, Shelly Velasquez, Robert Harris, Jr., Randy Harris, and Raeshell Harris (Jasmine); 12 Grandchildren; Joshua, Shanina, William, Shawn Jr., Danielle, Justin, Kaleea, Michael, Sadia, Sasha, and John, as well as seven great-grandchildren; sister Diane Kennedy and brother Rod Harris; sister-in-law Annette Nesbitt (Larry) and sister-in-law Glenda Bailey (James); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and global network of friends.

In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by his grandson Sheldon Davis, Brother Roy Harris, and brother-in-law John Wesley Davis, Jr. (Luz).

Aside from spending time with family and friends, Bobby had a passion for traveling to New York, vacationing, gardening roses/flowers, maintaining his grass, caring for dogs (especially Rottweilers), taking pictures, collecting pictures, and telling stories about his childhood, all his children, and one “special” grandson Mikey. He was very sociable and touched many lives.

A Celebration of Bobby’s Life will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at 2:00 PM from Mountain View Funerals and Cremations – Seneca, SC. The family will host a repast following the service at Littlejohn Community Center.
