Weather Related Closings and Delays

Clemson’s public works department is one day behind garbage and recycling routes.  Some of Clemson’s streets are passable; others are not.  The Central-Clemson Recreation Center is closed until 12 noon Tuesday.

Community COVID testing hours at Clemson’s Nettles Park will take place from noon until 2 this afternoon.  These tests are for symptomatic and close contact exposures only.

(for Tuesday, January 18) Oconee County government offices and facilities are closed until 12 noon today.  According to Lisa Burton, clerk of court, all jurors directed to report to the courthouse have been released for the rest of the week.  County services that include tax payments, address changes and building permit applications are available online at www.oconeesc.com.  City halls in both Walhalla and Westminster open at 10:30 this morning.  Until the weather improves, Walhalla trash pickups are on a delay until the roads improve.  Brush pickups will be modified to allow for roadsides to be cleared up as quickly as possible.  Until road and trail conditions improve, Stumphouse Mountain Park and Bike Park remain closed.  Because of dangerous roads, CATbus will not run on icy roads.

Tri-County Tec classes are cancelled for Tuesday. A decision on Wednesday’s classes will be made by 5 pm Tuesday.
St. Mark United Methodist Child Development Center in Seneca will be closed Tuesday January 18, 2022.
Walhalla and Westminster City Halls will both open at 10:30 am on Tuesday.

Oconee County schools’ athletic events are canceled for Monday. Athletic events scheduled for Tuesday, January 18 have been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 19.

Oconee County Schools are closed for in-person learning on Tuesday. It will be an eLearning day for students.

Most of Clemson’s streets have been plowed, but the freezing temperatures make them too dangerous to run garbage and recycling routes.  Clemson plans to run Monday and Tuesday routes on Tuesday, January 18.

All Oconee County Government offices & Facilities will reopen at noon on Tuesday.

The Walhalla Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, January 17 has been postponed until the evening of the 24th.
