Food trucks now a regulated Walhalla business

Serving meals from mobile vehicles is now a regulated business in Walhalla. The city council last night gave final approval of an amended ordinance following council review and a public hearing. After hearing from the one mobile food vendor who spoke, Tina Stevens, the council agreed to consider exceptions to the requirement that a food truck may only occupy a maximum of two public parking spaces. Stevens is concerned that the 28-foot trailer attached to her food truck could bleed over to part of a third space. A second change to the ordinance will restrict mobile food vendors to parking in one location for a maximum 72 consecutive hours or a total of 15 days in a calendar month, or both.
