The state’s annual morbidity report

The diseases that cause South Carolinians significant injury, complications, and death are detailed in a report released today by the Department of Health and Environmental Control. The 2018 Morbidity Report on Reportable Conditions is meant to provide the public, along with healthcare organizations and providers, among others, important statistical information about preventable diseases and conditions. State law requires health care facilities and providers to report conditions on the state’s List of Reportable Conditions to the local public health department. Frequent conditions are those that had reports of 21 cases or more over the course of the year. One of Oconee County’s great health concerns in 2018 was the level of seasonal flu. In that year alone, there were 257 cases, whereas just two years earlier only four cases were reported countywide.
