Wilbanks trial anticipated March 25

The defense for former Walhalla police chief Ronald Wilbanks anticipates trial will take place the week of March 25 at the Oconee Courthouse. Wilbanks’ attorney Larry Brandt last night said he has been so notified by the office of the South Carolina Attorney General, which will act as prosecutors. Wilbanks resigned last spring shortly before Attorney General Alan Wilson announced state grand jury indictments against Wilbanks, alleging misconduct in office. Brandt said he expects the trial will last one week, possibly bleed into the following week. There has already been one postponement in the trial. Brandt says he’ll resist any attempt to delay the case further.
