Eight of nine school police jobs filled

Eight of nine available school resource officer jobs in Oconee are filled, and the officers will be in place for the start of the public school year on Monday morning. The Sheriff’s Office today announced the following deputies are joining the holdover staff of school officers: Jordei Jameson, John Towery, Calley Moore, Robert Sparkman, Kyle Edwards, Adam Poore, Roy McKenzie. and Angel Jennings. Returning school officers are Charles Mulwee, Mike Thompson, Ryan Overton, Jesus Soto, Derek Pace, Adam Logan, Keith Brooks, and Chris Roach. The Walhalla police will continue to have officer Robert Bennett stationed at the Walhalla Middle School. Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says the last remaining position will be filled in the coming weeks. As another year of school gets underway, motorists are requested to be mindful of safety, especially as it applies to school buses and the laws covering them.
