An infusion of funds for South Carolina education

A record year reported by the South Carolina Education Lottery means big money for the public schools. The Lottery reports that nearly $435 million dollars was transferred this month to support education. The lottery proceeds reflect the government year that ended three weeks ago, on July 1. Proceeds are deposited in the Education Lottery Account, from which the General Assembly makes appropriations to support higher education scholarships and grants, K-12 public education programs and community education programs in the state.
