Recognition for the Pendleton Farmers Society

A celebration takes place next month to mark the 200th anniversary of the Pendleton Farmers Society.  A concurrent resolution passed in this year’s session of the South Carolina General Assembly, according to John Parris of Columbia, director of the South Carolina Agri-News Service and a former president of the society.  Organized June 12, 1815 by a group of prominent agriculturists from the Pendleton area, the society continues to provide a forum for scientific agricultural technology by land users while stressing the need for and the importance of agricultural research.  The event celebration will be Saturday, September 26.  For details about the event, contact Mrs. Wayne Link of Pendleton, president of the society, at [email protected].
