Request to arm

In the opinion of Oconee County Council, all South Carolina National Guard members should be armed as the result of the murders of five service members in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Last week the council directed its chairman to urge the governor to enact the policy.  Chairman Wayne McCall’s letter to Governor Haley reads, “Additional safety measures, such as the installation of surveillance systems and bullet-proof glass at recruiting centers should be considered, as well, as it has become clear that our military personnel and officers must have the ability to defend themselves with loaded arms in any necessary event.”
