Second special meeting to take up proposed agreement

Oconee County Council members gather in special session tomorrow to consider what the county attorney has to say about a proposal that would end a lawsuit aimed at recovering back taxes allegedly owed by the owners of a plane that was kept at the county airport. County Attorney Tom Martin during last Friday’s special meeting asked for until the close of business today to complete his review of the agreement proposed by the defendants, and the council responded by scheduling at 5 o’clock tomorrow afternoon a second special meeting for the purpose of discussing Martin’s findings. Martin is not the attorney of record in the case. That’s Randy Moody, and Moody is advising the council to reject the agreement. In an email made public Friday, Moody said, “There are way too many give-aways considering the liability that we have for the Defendants.”
