Teenager dies four hours after being pulled from lake

A Spartanburg County teenager died in a Greenville hospital of complications from an apparent drowning earlier in Lake Keowee. Oconee Coroner Karl Addis said Treven Tolliver, 17-year old resident of Greer, was pronounced dead at 9:17 Friday night at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Four hours earlier, Oconee 9-1-1 received a call for help at Fall Creek on Lake Keowee, near the popular swimming location known as “The Rock.” Addis quoted Scott Krein of Emergency Services as saying Tolliver’s body was recovered at 6 p-m from water 26 feet deep—halfway between the peninsula and the island. He was resuscitated at Oconee Memorial and then transferred to Greenville. As part of the death investigation, a post mortem will be conducted. Tolliver’s family says Treven was a senior at Greer High and was at the lake with other teenagers from his home area.
