Deputies take specialized training

Oconee County deputies, along with officers from the county’s municipal police departments, are enrolled this week in special training. Conducted by South Carolina assistant attorney’s general Meghan Gresham, the training focuses on criminal domestic violence—from the laws, to restraining orders, to orders of protection and the like. The training is part of efforts to combat domestic violence in Oconee County. Last year officers took part in training provided by Safe Harbor, which recently opened the county’s first shelter for domestic violence victims.
