Scott awaits seat on Senate Finance Committee

South Carolina U-S senator Tim Scott of Charleston awaits a seat on the Senate Finance Committee. And, effective with the start of the 114th Congress, Scott becomes the first South Carolinian to sit on the committee since Senator James Hammond in 1861. The committee jurisdiction includes banking, insurance, financial markets, securities, housing, and urban development. Scott also retains his assignments as a member of the Committee on Aging, the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee.
