Tech commissioners in Asheville this weekend

A spokeswoman for Tri-County Technical College says what the policymakers for her college are doing this weekend is no different from what leaders of other public organizations do on an annual basis. They are getting away from normal surroundings, as a way to help arrive at fresh ways of handling the public’s business. The Tech commissioners are gathering today at a Hilton hotel in Asheville, North Carolina for a weekend of meetings. Tech spokeswoman Rebecca Eidson asked 96.3/WGOG NEWS to clarify the arrangements that make this workshop possible. “We don’t spend taxpayer money on that. We don’t spend local taxpayer dollars on that. No tuition dollars are paid for that. These are funds that are generated from our auxiliary services, a modest amount of money, that by state policy is used to support the work of our governing board,” she said.
