Ray Hare

Westminster –Clarence Ray Hare, 74, beloved husband of Brenda Joan Burnside Hare, passed away August 5th, 2024, at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

 

Born March 14th, 1950, in Oconee County, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Cliff and Claudell Spencer Hare. Ray worked for the South Carolina Department of Transportation and later retired from Beacon Manufacturing where he worked as a loom fixer.  Ray had a great passion for hunting and fishing, enjoyed watching racing, loved music, and playing the guitar.

 

In addition to his wife, Joan Hare of 49 years, Ray is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Hare Butts, and her husband Brett of Westminster; brother, Jimmy Hare (the late Myra Rogers Hare) of Westminster; sister, Alice Owens (the late Adger Owens) of Westminster; one grandson, Simon Ray Butts; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly.

 

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home, on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024.
