Marie Chatlos

 

Westminster – Marie Gambrell Chatlos, 101, wife of the late Albert A. Chatlos, passed away on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 at Lila Doyle Post Acute.

 

Born on August 21st, 1922, in Oconee County, South Carolina, Marie was the daughter of the late Paul Eugene and Esta Arve Gambrell. Marie worked as a plant engineer secretary at Kendall Company. She was a graduate of Walhalla High School and Limestone University. She was a member of the Extension Homemakers of Oconee, member of the Professional Secretaries International (PSI), the Red Hats, and the Order of Eastern Star of Seneca. Marie was a member of Richland Presbyterian Church and was very active in her church.

 

Marie is survived by her daughters, Carolyn S. Gates (Gordon), Kristi S. Ritch (Perry Siegel); sisters, Ethelin G. Stancil, Jean G. Grant; grandchildren, Paul Stancil (Judy), Nicole S. Currie (Chris), Chuck Stancil (Dawn), Tracy F. Teske (Trey), and Austin Ritch (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Brookie S. Ward (Robert), Morgan Stancil, Chloe Currie, Justin Foster, and Ashlin Foster; great great-grandchildren, Ashton Stancil, Jordan Ward, Daxton Ward, Addi Lynn Webster, and Aubri Foster; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; an “adopted son” and special friend of the family, Staphen DuBose; and her loving church family who have been a big part of her life.

 

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by her son, Joseph R. Stancil, and her daughter, Elaine S. Foster.

 

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 10th, 2024 at Richland Presbyterian Church, with burial to follow at Richland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, August 9th, 2024 at Sandifer Funeral Home.
