Alton Williams

Seneca – Alton K. Williams, beloved husband of Dorothy King Williams, passed away June 15, 2024. Born in Oakway, South Carolina on August 25, 1929, he was the son of the late JB and Faye Gibson Williams.

 

In addition to his wife of 74 years, Alton is survived by his children, Ronnie Williams (Susan), Roger Williams (Sarah), Gail Gambrell (Robert); six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Williams (Martha); sister, Lou Mize (Dewitt); and many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, Alton was predeceased by his grandson, Rob Gambrell.

 

Alton retired as a supervisor from Torrington Company. Once retired, Alton worked for the Oconee County Soil Conservation Office and was a farmer, receiving the 2012 Oconee County Heritage Farmer Award. He could fix anything and enjoyed working outside on tractors and farm equipment. He was full of life and enjoyed collecting and sharing his “treasures”.  He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was the Treasurer for over 58 years. He was a life member of the Townville Masonic Lodge where he was a Past Master of the lodge and a Past District Deputy Grandmaster of the 15th Masonic District. He was a charter member of the Cross Roads Fire Department, and proudly served twelve years on the Oconee County Council.

 

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 20th, 2024 at Cross Roads Baptist Church in Seneca with burial to follow at Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024 at Sandifer Funeral Home.
