Why Wayne Morton wears a “B” baseball cap

The reason Wayne Morton of Seneca, a retired WGOG announcer, wears a Boston Red Sox hat is simple.  His grandson, Michael Gettys, is pitching for the Portland, Maine Sea Dogs, an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.  At one time Gettys, of Gainesville, Georgia, was regarded as a slugging outfielder in the rich San Diego Padres’ farm system.  Since then, however, Gettys was traded to Boston.  That organization has decided to convert the prospect to a pitcher.
