Why Seneca has interest in an afternoon Myrtle Beach meeting
The board of directors of Santee Cooper holds a special meeting this afternoon. A vote that is taken there in a Myrtle Beach meeting room is being followed hundreds of miles away in Seneca. Santee Cooper is Seneca’s wholesale electric power supplier. And the purpose is for a proposed rate adjustment comment meeting. Josh Riches, Seneca utilities director, released the following statement to 101.7/WGOG NEWS: “Today’s Santee Cooper Board meeting is the last day for the public to make comments on the proposed rates. Santee Cooper’s staff presents the final rates on Sept. 29, and the board makes the final decision on October 30. If approved, the new rates take effect February 1, 2027, and February 1, 2028.”
