What’s in Seneca’s new budgets?
As highlighted in last night’s presentation, Seneca spending over a new 12-month period to start July 1 includes: pay raises of $1 thousand to city workers who gross under $100 thousand a year; a Christmas bonus tier for employees; various city fee increases (including garbage pickup and water service) and a 2.3 millage increase in the formula used to figure individual property taxes. The tax increase would impact by an additional $9.20 on the bill of the owner of a home appraised at $100 thousand. Inside the proposed Light and Water budget is a projected $1.5 million increase in the city’s wholesale costs for electrical power.
