What’s being done with all those used tires?
Oconee County’s handling of worn-out tires appears to be sort of touch-and-go, as explained during last night’s county council meeting. The county’s solid waste director, Swain Stihl, was called in front of the council to explain a new ordinance that changes the county’s rules accepting used tires and the fee solid waste charges to take them. Stihl’s comments at first reading of ordinance 2025-26 can be heard today over 101.7/WGOG NEWS.
