What a Walhalla Greenway will resemble

A two-hour event at the Walhalla Depot allowed interested members of the public to see how the sides of a major thoroughfare will be adapted to walkers and bicyclists.  The long-talked about Walhalla Greenway along North and South Broad streets is on the drawing board and being prepared to bid to contractors for first phase construction.  The display of the drawings gave the public a chance to see what it’ll look like, as well as ask questions of city officials.  Mayor Danny Edwards feels a degree of excitement about a new kind of transportation route between Coffee Road and the Depot, envisioned eventually to connect with the recreation facilities along the Highlands Highway including the Stumphouse Mountain and Bike Park.  The drawings show a wide pavement to walk and bike the trail.  There are promises of public art, interactive features to expand Walhalla’s beautification attempts.
