Water line leak befuddles Seneca repair crews

A water line leak apparently somewhere beneath a recently-resurfaced part of the 123 Seneca ByPass is proving a mystery to the utility crews delegated to find it and make repairs. So far, no luck, according to utilities superintendent Bob Faires. Faires today called the leak “aggravating.” The leak has soaked the asphalt in the vicinity of a car wash, but Faires says crews think it’s origin could be farther across the four-lane highway in the area of Fort Hill Natural Gas and the Waffle House. Crews have sanded wet spots, and Faires says further precautions may be taken if rain the next two days drops the temperature to below freezing. Our latest forecast indicates the low temperatures the next two nights will stay above freezing.
