Walhalla Water Line Repaired, but Boiling Still Necessary

The break in a Walhalla water line has been repaired, the drained tank is re-filling, and the utility superintendent says tests results should be available by today. All customers affected by the major break to a line near Earth Berm Lane and n. highway 11, until further notice, should boil water vigorously for at least one full minute before using for drinking or cooking. Scott Parris, superintendent, says the break occurred around 6:15 yesterday morning and was located about 30 minutes later. However, that was long enough for the city tank on Chalmers Mountain to lose water. The boil water advisory covers in and around the following sections: highway 11 north of 183; 183 east to Country Junction; Country Junction Road north to Oconee Creek Road; Old Flat Shoals Road; Lecroy Road; Deaton Road; Falcon’s Lair; Falcon’s Nest; Falcon’s View; Picket Post Road; Forest Acres; Bethel Church Road; and Willow Lane.
