Walhalla in the running for adventure town nickname

An outdoor magazine is trying to find towns throughout the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic with vibrant scenery and world-class adventures. And Walhalla is one of 20 towns contending in the top adventure small town category. Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine invites its readers to pick their favorites. Apparently Walhalla made the competition because of its wine and craft beer business and its plans to connect to the hiking and biking trail under construction between Stumphouse Mountain Tunnel Park and the Oconee State Park. In the small town category, Walhalla competes with such places as Thurmont, Maryland, Lexington, Virginia, Abingdon, Virginia, and Franklin, North Carolina. The winners in four categories will be featured in the November/December issue of Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine.
