Viola Carter

Viola Alexander Carter, 96, wife of the late Clinton Calvin Carter, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

Born in Salem, SC, Viola was the daughter of the late Earnest and Annie Madden Alexander. She was a faithful member of Clearmont Baptist Church. She lived a full life as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest treasures were found in her faith and in her family. She loved to cook, enjoyed gardening, and was often found crocheting afghans and scarves to share with family and friends. She was the ultimate example of Proverbs 31:28, “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Viola is survived by a son, Calvin Carter (Agnes); daughter Nancy Hudson (Roger); four grandchildren Lindsey Rothell (Daniel), Jason Carter (Casey), Katelan Hudson, and Abbey Hudson; four great-grandchildren, Ella Rothell, Lily Rothell, Pressley Carter, and Jack Carter; and brother Jimmy Alexander (Jane).

In addition to her husband and parents, Viola was preceded in death by brothers Jess Alexander, Ray Alexander, and Arthur Alexander; and sisters Inez Sanders and Shirley Blackwell.

Due to the current pandemic and for the safety and consideration of others, no public service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Viola’s memory be made to Clearmont Baptist Church, 1740 Clearmont Rd., Westminster, SC 29693. Condolences may be expressed online by visiting www.sandiferfuneralhome.com.
