Video to accompany Walhalla park grant request

A video will be made Saturday to help advance a grant application to re-develop an old Walhalla park that was once a source of pride on the west side of the city. And everyone, from toddlers to grandparents, is invited to be part of a two-minute video that is to be made between 12:30 and 2:30 to be part of the video. Just as important, however, according to Sharon DeRidder of the Friends of the City Park, are the ideas that children and adults can give toward what they’d like to see as a dream park. The park property surrounds the Walhalla Municipal Swimming Pool on W. Main Street. Once a fun place for young and old, the park now has recreation equipment that’s 44 years old and, according to DeRidder, the old should be replaced by the new. The application for the park grant is being sponsored by the city, with support from the Friends of the City Park and the Partners for Progress. Rain date for the event will be the following day—Sunday, April 28.
