Utility upgrades ahead for Westminster

If there was an over-riding realization during discussions last night of what Westminster faces with its water and electric power services, it is that the city has a lot of work ahead of it. The concerns heard during last night’s city budget hearings are line losses of electricity and water line pipe leaks—both of which are costly to city government. But Mayor Brian Ramey, at the end of the long meeting, expressed confidence that the city is on the right path to make the necessary corrections. According to Marty Reid, the electric power superintendent, the ongoing series of electric upgrades will reduce the city’s bill to its supplier, the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency.
