Upstate mail thief sent to prison

A Greenville man who the government says stole mail from various locations across Upstate South Carolina has been sent to federal prison. At U-S District Court in Anderson, Judge Tim Cain ordered Christopher Brooks Pruitt to serve nine months and make nearly $27 thousand in restitution to his victims. According to the office of U-S Attorney Bill Nettles, the 40-year old Pruitt stole mail between 2009 and 2011 and used personal information and bank account information to create counterfeit checks that he passed at businesses. Surveillance footage allowed investigators to track down and identify their man.
