Trial winds down

A lunch break has been declared in the Oconee civil trial in SC. v. Christopher Trent Wilder.  Within the last few minutes (around 1 pm), the lunch break came as the prosecution finished the cross-examination of defense witness Dr. Beussink.  Court officers say indications are the trial will finish this afternoon and, at some point later today, the jury will be asked to take the case to its meeting room and deliberate.  What brought 40-year-old Wilder to the Oconee Courthouse this week is the exercise of his rights as a sexual violent predator and a periodic review of whether he has progressed to the point that he qualifies to be released from prison.
