Transmission line in the wrong place, Seneca officials say

Members of Seneca’s Facilities Corporation are balking at a proposal to place an overhead transmission line at the entrance to property which both the city and the county market for industrial development. On behalf of the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, Central Electric has asked for an easement in the vicinity of Shiloh Road and the properties that the city and the county have a joint industrial park. Seneca utilities director Bob Faires says transmission lines aren’t pretty, but they are necessary. Faires will join City Administrator Scott Moulder in an attempt to satisfy city concerns over where the transmission line is placed. A new substation is also planned for the area.
