Things are heating up at the Seneca Rail Park

Oconee County is hopeful to soon get a commitment that a company will expand to Oconee from its Georgia operations. For now, county officials are cloaking the company’s identity as “Project Chi.” Janet Hartman of the county Economic Alliance says there is strong interest to make Oconee the new location, and Hartman’s office hopes to interest the company in the Seneca Rail Site. A contract was recently awarded to build a road to access the county’s park acreage from the Shiloh Road. And next week, Hartman predicts, there will be word on whether the county is approved for an infrastructure grant to pay for utility work there. Another project—“Project Cell”—is a second project considered by the Economic Alliance as a good possibility. It is a metal stamping manufacturer looking to re-locate from the Midwest.
