The passing of prominent Westminster figure
Word has spread of the death of a distinguished member of the Westminster business community, Cecil Sandifer. He lived into his 90s. Besides the family funeral home, Sandifer is remembered as a man of faith, founder of the Apple Festival, his time as mayor, as a state lawmaker, and state employee. He had a deep voice which he used to belt out “God Bless America” for audiences at the Rotary Club’s annual Apple Festival luncheon. From Mayor Brian Ramey, a statement this morning which, in part, reads, “I ask for prayers today for the Sandifer family, and the entire city of Westminster as we all face the loss of a great man we all loved. I also ask that we remember to rejoice in the comfort of knowing that Mr. Sandifer is at the right hand of God today with no more pain or sickness.”
