Smiley occasion for West Union

All smiles during an occasion last night in West Union.  And someone even baked a cake.  Carol Mendoza is now officially a voting member of the four-member town council.  Having won a special election, Mendoza received the oath of office to start last night’s special meeting.  The swearing-in was followed by an official introduction of the town’s new police chief, Jeff Richardson.  He comes to West Union from the Clearwater, Florida police, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office and, as it was pointed out to 101.7/WGOG NEWS, Richardson long ago sold Curtis Mathes television sets in Seneca.  Richardson greeted last night’s audience and announced the addition of two new policemen:  Wesley Smith and Mario Salinas.
