Sheriff’s Office posts alert for Charles Whitney Batts

The Oconee Sheriff’s Office is looking for a 57-year old man who cut off his ankle monitor and for whom there are warrants for his arrest. The subject of the search is Charles Whitney Batts of the Burnt Tanyard Road, West Union. According to the Sheriff’s Office announcement, Batts was sentenced to seven years in prison last month for drug law violations but was allowed to go home for 60 days to care for a family member. Law enforcement discovered Batts ankle monitor was cut off along I-85 in Georgia, and the monitor was found in Franklin County. The Sheriff’s Office has obtained an arrest warrant against Batts on a charge of Escape. General Session Court obtained five bench warrants against Batts for absconding his house arrest.
